HOMING SONG
Sounding, singing and vocal improvisation as practices of making Home.
During this workshop I invite participants to engage with voice, movement, vocal improvisation and singing songs of tradition in an intention to evoke the experience of Home.
Body sensations, movement and sound will be used to awaken memories and associations of Home: as a place of refuge, as a feeling, as a way of being and experiencing the world.
Which sounds open up the space that feels like Home?
Which songs are rooted in that space for you?
Playing with imagination and memories, experimenting with sound and melodies, and singing songs, we will together step onto a possible vocal journey Home.
In the first part of the workshop the participants will be guided into:
exercises that help to ground the experience in the body and expand its capacity to feel
individual investigations through sound and movement that align perception and imagination.
The event will culminate in a session of singing home-evoking songs from various traditions.
During this session some of the participants will be invited to share their own homing song of tradition, prepared prior to the encounter.
For me singing is a way of investigating my inner worlds, nurturing my intuition, and connecting to the wisdom of the Sentient. During the Homing Song workshop I invite you to have a taste of this approach to singing and knowing through sound.
