Attention.Movement.Flow
Whole-Body Attunement and Play for Collective Nourishment
4 weekly movement sessions with Agnieszka Kazimierska
Wednesdays of September at Q-Staff Theater,
Albuquerque, New Mexico
During Attention.Movement.Flow sessions you will be guided into a world of sensory and imaginative attunement, as you connect with others through synchronized and improvised movement practice.
Sensory and imaginative, whole body attunement practiced with others can open up space: the inner space of perception, and the outer space of connection.
A shared simplicity of the here-and-now inhabited together, this "opening”, often brings a sense of relief and reminds us of something that is vaster, easeful and shared.
Attention.Movement.Flow sessions are an attempt to remember and reenter that space of togetherness, fluidity and connection with others.
This practice revitalizes human body-being and helps to remember that we are not isolated individuals but a part of a mysterious interconnected living web of beings in constant play.
It helps to remember that we are incarnate, living in and through “carne” (Italian for “meat”) - our sentient bodies.
What will we do?
Warm up and practice sensory and imaginative attunement individually and in couples
Extend the sensory attunement from self to other, and practice shifting of the direction of attention (inside-outisde, self-other)
Play with the body and imagination, move reacting to imagination and sensation
Enter a flow of sustained and improvised movement done in synchronisation, where sensation, imagination, play, fluidity, and sustained circulation of attention all come to live
The sequences of Attention.Movement.Flow are structured, yet they are not choreographies. Within each section of Attention.Movement.Flow you will have the possibility to connect to your own improvised movement as it arises spontaneously, in response to “the other” and the imaginative process unfolding beneath your practice.
During these sessions you will work with the flow of your attention and the flow of movement: constant, sustained, uninterrupted.
The first part of the session will be dedicated to practices of sensory, physical and imaginative attunement done individually and in couples, and then we will all enter into a sequence of Attention.Movemen.Flow practice.
What is Attention.Movemen.Flow practice?
It’s a kind of psychophysical training that aligns the functioning of the body and mind, waking up perceptions, imagination and a sense of aliveness in your body and in the shared, collective field.
In other words:
It feels like a structured dance party without music.
It’s an experience of following, moving and being moved.
It’s an immersion into the body’s language of sensations and impulses.
It’s an ongoing noticing of your body moving in space.
It's sustained listening.
It’s moving in connection and synchronisation with others.
It’s whole body attunement into the field of sensations and imagination.
It’s a sequence of games.
It’s a play of tempos, rhythms and diverse qualities of movement.
It’s like entering a sea and letting it move you.
It’s entering into a flow of movement improvisation that engages your body and your psyche.
It is a psycho-physical training for actors, dancers, movers, performing artists and any persons seeking practice of embodiment and sensory attunement with others.
Why “for collective nourishment”?
I perceive a necessity for spaces where together we can experience and remember that we are not isolated individuals but a living interconnected web of beings belonging to the same species and intimately linked to all sentient life on Earth.
I perceive a need for spaces where we can relate to one another and enter a state of uninhibited play and openness of feeling.
Attention. Movement.Flow is an attempt to provide a shared space of practice where, for a few moments, we can together experience being in-carne, incarnate.
